Because it brings a suave, woody or smoky note to accords, Patchouli was used by perfumers very early on. In the middle of the 19th<\/sup> century, with the enthusiasm of French women for the Orient, this scent came back into fashion. Patchouli is then so widespread that it becomes the olfactory signature of the demi-mondaine. Evocative of India and the East, it is appropriated by the hippie movement in the 70s. Its warm, exotic and mysterious scent evoking escape, travel thus becomes a perfect symbol of liberation and eroticism.<\/p>\n
